Heavy rains in Mumbai and its suburbs have significantly impacted Air India flight operations, causing several flights to be either canceled or diverted. The airline announced that it is offering full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for bookings made for travel on July 25, 2024.

In a statement posted on X, Air India advised passengers to check their flight status online before arriving at the airport. “Heavy rains in Mumbai are affecting flight operations, resulting in the cancellation and diversion of some flights. We are offering full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for bookings confirmed for today,” the airline said.
Earlier today, Air India had already warned passengers about potential disruptions due to the heavy rainfall. The airline recommended that travelers allow extra time for their journey to the airport, as slow-moving traffic and waterlogging might cause delays.
In addition to the airport disruptions, Mumbai has faced significant waterlogging, including the closure of the Andheri Subway. The city’s low-lying areas have experienced severe waterlogging, which has also affected public transportation services.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the weather forecast at 8 am indicated moderate to heavy rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs, with the possibility of very heavy rain in isolated locations. Gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph are also anticipated.
On a positive note, the heavy rains have led to increased water storage in Mumbai’s reservoirs. The BMC announced that the 10% water cut in the city will be lifted starting Monday, July 29 and this also applies to Thane City, Bhiwandi, and other areas served by BMC.
