With no glamour or superstars, ‘Criminal Justice: A Family Matter’ becomes the most-watched Indian OTT web series of 2025.

In a surprise twist for Indian OTT viewership charts, it’s not PanchayatMirzapur, or Ashram that claimed the top spot this year, but a quiet legal drama built on gripping storytelling. Criminal Justice Season 4: A Family Matter has emerged as the most-watched Indian web series of 2025, clocking over 2.77 crore (27.7 million) views and an IMDb rating of 7.6/10.

What sets this series apart? There are no big stars, no profanity, and no glamor. Just a tightly written plot that unfolds across eight episodes, streaming on JioCinema (formerly Hotstar).

The Plot: A Murder, a Family, and a Courtroom

This season centers around Dr. Raj Nagpal, a successful surgeon whose family life is anything but smooth. His daughter Ira suffers from a mental illness, and his estranged wife Anju lives in the adjacent flat so they can co-parent. A nurse named Roshni Saluja enters the scene to care for Ira—and eventually starts dating Dr. Nagpal.

But things take a dark turn when, a day after Ira’s birthday party, Roshni is found dead, and Dr. Nagpal is discovered cradling her lifeless body. What follows is a riveting investigation, as layers of the family’s secrets unfold. Did Roshni try to poison Ira? Is Raj guilty—or is someone else involved?

As always, it is the beloved character Madhav Mishra, played by Pankaj Tripathi, who steps into the courtroom to defend the accused. With sharp wit and quiet brilliance, he unravels the mystery and steers the case through its many twists.

Criminal Justice 4 topped the Ormax Media list of the Top 50 Streaming Original Shows of 2025. Notably, this list includes only original Indian OTT releases—excluding dubbed or licensed titles.
