ACs, TVs, Aquaguard, Chandeliers Worth ₹20 Lakh Missing From Pune Municipal Commissioner’s Bungalow
Pune Municipal Corporation Plans ‘Sponge Gardens’ To Prevent Flooding And Boost Groundwater In Newly Merged Areas
Pune, August 6, 2025 – A major controversy has erupted after items worth ₹20 lakh were reported missing from the Pune Municipal Commissioner’s bungalow in Model Colony. The missing items include four air conditioners, chandeliers, antique brass lamps, LED TVs, a coffee machine, aquaguard, walkie-talkies, remote bells, and kitchen fittings.
These belongings reportedly went missing after former commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale vacated the premises and before newly appointed Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram moved in. Despite the bungalow being under 24×7 municipal security and CCTV surveillance, the disappearance has raised serious concerns about accountability and oversight.
What’s more surprising is that no police complaint has yet been filed regarding the missing items. The municipal administration is now initiating the purchase of new items through a fresh tender worth approximately ₹20 lakh. Internal departments are reportedly blaming each other over the bungalow’s custody, leading to confusion over which department is ultimately responsible – estate, building, or security.
Interestingly, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. Around 10 years ago, a theft also took place at the Mayor’s bungalow on Ghole Road, where an LED TV was stolen and an FIR was filed. However, the accused in that case were never found.
In contrast, despite the scale of this recent theft, the PMC has maintained secrecy over the issue, possibly to avoid further controversy.
