Pune, June 30, 2026: Train services passing through Pune railway station are expected to face major disruptions on Sunday, July 5, as Central Railway’s Pune Division will undertake a special nine-hour traffic and power block from 8 am to 5 pm to carry out critical infrastructure upgrades in the Pune railway yard.

The block has been scheduled to facilitate engineering, signalling and telecommunication (S&T), and overhead equipment (OHE) works, including the replacement of Double Density Switch (DDS) points 207 and 208 and the upgrading of the existing 52 kg track layout to a modern 60 kg DDS track in the Pune-Lonavala section.

During the maintenance work, Platforms 1 and 2 will remain unavailable for train movements from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) end, while operations towards CSMT on Platforms 2, 3 and 4 will also remain suspended. As a result, Central Railway has announced extensive operational changes, including train cancellations, short terminations, short originations and regulated movements of several suburban, DEMU and long-distance express trains.

Several suburban services from Lonavala and Talegaon will terminate at Shivajinagar instead of Pune, while long-distance trains such as the Jaipur-Pune Express and CSMT Mumbai-Pune Express will terminate at Khadki. Trains arriving from Jammu Tawi, Amravati and Nagpur will terminate at Hadapsar, while the Baramati-Pune DEMU will terminate at Daund.

Pune Railway Division spokesperson Hemant Kumar Behera said several outbound trains will originate from intermediate stations instead of Pune. The Pune-Kolhapur Express will originate from Satara, the Pune-Jaipur Express and Pune-CSMT Mumbai Express will commence from Khadki after the completion of the block, while the Pune-Nagpur Express will depart from Hadapsar. Additionally, four long-distance trains, including services bound for Bengaluru, Chennai, Kakinada Port and Daund, will be regulated by approximately 30 minutes in the Lonavala-Pune section.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest train schedules and running status through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the Indian Railways enquiry portal before commencing their journey, as the temporary operational changes are likely to impact travel plans.
