Renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was allegedly detained at Dubai airport, with Dubai police preventing him from boarding his flight. According to Geo TV, the singer was interrogated for several hours at the police station. However, in an attempt to address the situation, Khan’s team posted a video on Instagram. In the video, Rahat communicated with his admirers, stating that he had arrived in Dubai to record new songs and urged them to ignore “cheap rumours.” He assured his followers that there was nothing to worry about and promised to return to Pakistan soon with a new song. However, Khan did not explicitly mention or deny the detention, causing some suspicion among netizens about the authenticity of the rumours.
Reports indicate that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was sued by his former manager, Salman Ahmed, a notable figure in the showbiz industry, in Dubai. Despite these reports, sources claim that the singer has not been officially arrested yet. Rahat had traveled to Dubai from Lahore for his singing shows, which were highly anticipated by his fans in the UAE.
Additionally, it has been revealed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Pakistan launched a money laundering and tax evasion investigation against Khan in January this year. The investigation stems from allegations that the singer earned approximately Rs 8 billion from domestic and international performances over a span of 12 years. The exact details of the charges remain unclear, but the FIA is said to be scrutinizing his financial records closely.
