Parallel Bridge to come up to decongest traffic at Pimple Saudagar – Pimpri

Residents of Pimple Saudagar have been for a long time in a fix. The traffic flow coming from and to Pimpri from Pimple Saudagar has become hectic for the commuters, who usually have to suffer the traffic congestion in the evening hours, as the width of the current bridge is comparatively insufficient to free flow the traffic.
PCMC has finally heard the call of the local corporators and the citizens as it has finally given a green signal too the development of which the e – bhumipujan was held at the hands of Central Minister, Prakash Javdekar in an event organized by the PCMC to launch various projects along with the special launch of PM Modi’s Awas Yojana.

Pimple Saudagar – Pimpri bridge, which is said to be of 7 m wide and 200-meter-long, will have a new parallel bridge, which will be 20-meter-wide and 200 meter long. The two parallel bridge will flow the traffic in two opposite directions. The upcoming bridge will be expected to flow the traffic from Pimple Saudagar to Pimpri, while the previous bridge will host the vehicles coming from Pimpri, as per the information provided by area corporator, Sahatrughan Kate.
While talking to Pune Pulse, another Corporator of Pimple Saudagar Shatrughan Kate said, “This is a massive development in the area as the region had become congested due to the rising flow of vehicles between Pimple Saudagar and other parts of the city through Pimpri, especially during the evening hours. The work order of the bridge began in February 2021, and the work of the infrastructure has been started under my supervision.”
Nirmala Kute, another corporator of the area, who in her previous term as a member of the standing committee from 2017 – 2018 had followed up on developing a parallel bridge along-side the previous 25 years old bridge that was proving to be congesting for the rising flow of vehicles.
While talking to Pune Pulse, she said, “The development is being closely monitored under the leadership of MLA Laxman Jagtap. We have made recce to the site a few days ago along with the then commissioner of the city, Shravan Hardikar, former Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner. All the difficulties to the development were discussed and a swift plan was made, accordingly. The work has been started and the residents of the Saudagar can expect the bottle neck problem to be resolved soon.”

Nana Kate, area corporator who has closely observed and worked for the development of the area from scratch, while talking to Pune Pulse said, “This new bridge adjoining the old one will not just widen the bridge capacity, but alsoy systemize the traffic flow. The work has been started, and no obstacle to it is reported lately. Currently, we are levelling the two opposite grounds for the work. The work is in process, and the citizen can expect the bridge to be developed soon.”
