Part Of Iron Structure Collapses at Pune Metro’s Yerwada Station : No Injuries Reported
A section of iron structure at a Pune Metro Station collapsed in the Yerwada area around 8 PM yesterday on August 10, narrowly missing a passing four-wheeler. Fortunately, there were no casualties, though the vehicle suffered significant damage. Maha Metro’s public relations officers have confirmed the incident and are actively investigating the cause.
Had the collapse occurred when citizens were present, the outcome could have been tragic. Calls are growing for a thorough safety audit of the ongoing station construction in Yerwada, along with a careful assessment of the work quality. Accountability for this incident must be established to prevent future mishaps, given the priceless value of citizens’ lives.
Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director (Administration and Public Relations) said, “The incident took place at 8.10 PM Grid No 05 at Yerwada Metro Station LHS Side, M/S Dophar Brother workers finishes his work. A 90 degree CI bend suddenly fell on the live car which damaged the front glass. The 90 degree CI bend fell approximately from more than 15 meter height. There was no injury in the accident. Rs 20,000 compensation has been given to the car owner.”
