On Friday, the Press Council of India (PCI) released a statement listing the newspapers that have received show-cause notices. The statement also mentioned that the Chairperson, Justice (retired) Ranjana Prakash Desai, has taken suo-motu cognizance of the content published by these newspapers on November 20.

The statement released by the PCI suggests that the banner headline, which was disguised as a news headline and placed directly below the newspaper masthead, may have breached the norms and journalistic conduct guidelines for the upcoming Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections in 2023.

The editors of all the aforementioned newspapers have been issued show-cause notices to file a reply, as stated. However, the print media did not disclose any information regarding the alleged content published by the newspapers.
