Pimple Saudagar Society inaugurates solar power plant project on Dussehra

Pune: Peace Valley Co-operative Housing Society, a residential society in Pimple Saudagar, in a move towards a greener future, inaugurated a solar power plant project in their society on October 24.

As per further information shared by Pavan Dhande, resident of Peace Valley CHS, Pimple Saudagar, since the past 10 years Peace Valley CHS, Pimple Saudagar has been championing various initiatives in the area of environmental protection. All the previous committees have been taking up this cause with full support and contribution of society members.

Continuing on the path of becoming a greener society, a major project which was undertaken this year was installing a Rooftop Solar Power Plant. The idea was suggested by Hemant Bhadane, former chairman of the society. The budget for this project was huge considering the size of the society. Society members Uday Tibdewal (Former Secretary) and Anand Agarwal (Former Secretary) lead this project with a series of efforts from evaluating various quotations, to visits to other societies to study the actual implementation, etc. Finally, a company called Natural Light Energy Solutions was awarded the project.

It took 4-5 months to complete the fabrication, solar panel installation, MSEDCL approvals, and finally the meter connection. The project was finally commissioned on the occasion of Dussehra ( October 24, 2023) and is operational now. It is estimated that nearly 80% of the electricity bill will be saved yearly. It will help society to earn lots of carbon credits in the future. 

This plant has been inaugurated by Charuhas Kulkarni (Director, Pune Housing Federation) and D V Deshmukh (Additional Executive, MSEDCL) and guided on more points. Also, the main guest Nanaware (Executive Engineer, Pimple Saudagar section) helped during the plant setup from MSEDCL. Various committee representatives from several neighboring societies were present. All guests appreciated the plant and other projects completed by the Peace Valley Society. Rohit Astaputre (society chairman) provided the vote of thanks.

The Peace Valley Co-operative Housing Society will be continuing on this path to become a green society in totality.
