BJP MLA Mahesh Landge is leading efforts to transform Pimpri-Chinchwad into a hub for world-class athletes by enhancing its sports infrastructure. With the introduction of facilities that meet international standards, Landge expressed optimism about developing Olympic-caliber talent in the city.

In a recent update, Landge shared details of significant sports projects completed over the past decade, emphasizing the role of the “Sports City – Pimpri-Chinchwad” initiative. Since the BJP’s 2017 victory in the municipal elections, Landge has championed the enhancement of local sports facilities. His efforts include the formulation of Maharashtra’s first independent sports policy.

Key Support from Devendra Fadnavis :

Landge acknowledged the support of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in establishing the Marutirao Raoji Landge International Wrestling Training Center, which now trains 70 athletes. Other major facilities include an international kabaddi center, rowing and archery centers, and numerous gyms and swimming pools.

Bullock Cart Racing Triumph

Landge also highlighted his success in lifting the ban on bullock cart racing, a milestone in his career. With the support of Fadnavis, he organized the country’s largest bullock cart race in Pimpri-Chinchwad, drawing support from local farmers.

Looking forward, Landge plans to develop an international multi-purpose stadium and a boxing training center in Moshi, furthering the city’s standing as a “Sports City.”
