Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Mr. Vinay Kumar Choubey (IPS) organized a virtual town hall meeting on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) to interact with the citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad and Hinjawadi on September 4. The session, which started at 4 PM, aimed to address issues related to child safety, traffic congestion, and security concerns raised by the public.

Citizens actively participated, raising concerns about misconduct near schools, requesting improved CCTV surveillance, staff background checks, and training on POCSO guidelines. The Commissioner highlighted the “One Day for School” initiative, which reached over 300 schools and 65,000 students, emphasizing good and bad touch awareness and discussing POCSO guidelines.

Citizens also raised issues of traffic congestion, and the Commissioner informed them that 26 congestion points have been identified, with joint action from the traffic branch, PCMC, PWD, and NHAI. Encroachments were removed in 11 areas, and road-widening measures are underway in key areas like Hinjawadi.

The discussion also covered cybercrime, particularly online fraud. The police have recorded 216 cybercrime cases this year, arrested 72 individuals, and recovered over ₹2.5 crore for the victims. Commissioner Choubey urged citizens to report cyber fraud immediately through the National Cyber Crime Portal or by calling 1930.

Regarding the upcoming Ganesh festival, the police are coordinating with peace committees and various departments to ensure smooth traffic management. A one-window system has been set up to facilitate permits for Ganesh mandals, and traffic diversions are planned at 30 locations.

The virtual town hall received a positive response, lasting an extra hour to accommodate the overwhelming participation.
