After a relatively quiet period of more than a year, the industrial city near Pune has reported an increase in positive cases, with at least 20 cases being recorded daily over the past 15 days. As of Wednesday, April 5, there were 205 active cases in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area, with 14 being asymptomatic and 01 in critical condition.

In light of this development, the PCMC has instructed its medical and health department to keep men and machinery ready to deal with any eventuality. The department has been asked to ensure that there is adequate availability of medical supplies, including PPE kits, oxygen cylinders, and ventilators, and that all healthcare workers are adequately trained and equipped to handle Covid cases.

The head of the medical department, Dr. Laxman Gofane has also appealed to residents to strictly adhere to Covid protocols, including wearing masks, maintaining social distance, and avoiding large gatherings.

The municipal corporation has assured citizens that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary steps to protect the health and well-being of the community.
