PUNE — The Social Welfare Department of the Pune Zilla Parishad has introduced an online application process for the Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme, aimed at encouraging inter-caste unions and promoting social integration in Maharashtra. The initiative has been launched under the guidance of Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil and District Social Welfare Officer Radhakisan Devdhe.
The scheme, introduced by the Maharashtra State Government, offers financial assistance ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹3 lakh to couples entering into inter-caste marriages, where one of the partners belongs to a Scheduled Caste (SC). The primary objective is to eliminate caste-based discrimination and uplift the social and economic status of SC citizens.
According to the authorities, the application process has been simplified to ensure greater transparency and ease for the beneficiaries. Upon submission, applications will be verified by the Social Welfare Office, and applicants will be informed at each stage of the process. The final approval and disbursement of financial aid will be based on the availability of grants and the verification of submitted documents.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme Maharashtra 2025, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- One of the spouses must belong to a Scheduled Caste.
- Both partners must be above the age of 18.
- The marriage must be the first for both individuals.
- The marriage must be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, or the Special Marriage Act, 1954.
- Both individuals must be permanent residents of Maharashtra.
