PM Narendra Modi Conferred with Lokmanya Award : Dedicates Award Amount To Namami Gange Mission

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday was conferred with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award in Pune, on the 103rd death anniversary of freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak.Â
Expressing his gratitude, PM Modi said, “This is a special and memorable moment for me”. During the award ceremony, he shared the stage with Sharad Pawar and also held a candid conversation with the NCP chief.Â
Modi announced that the Lokmanya Award money is dedicated to the Namami Gange Mission.Â

The Lokmanya Award was conferred by Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983. The award recognises the contribution towards development and progress of the nation.
Modi is the 41st recipient of the award. The Trust is known to be a non-political organisation. Previously, the awardees included Shankar Dayal Sharma, Pranab Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi and N R Narayana Murthy, E Sreedharan and Manmohan Singh.Â
