The online service introduced by the Pune Municipal Corporation to expedite the processing of water connection applications has garnered a positive reception from the public.

In just two weeks since its inception, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has already received 140 applications through this fast-track system.

As per the information provided, on Wednesday, a housing society in Parvati was granted its first connection by the civic administration. The purpose of this new system is to simplify business operations and eliminate the shortcomings of the manual system. Activists have urged the civic administration to take measures to decrease the number of illegal water connections.

As per the information received, activists have reported instances of bribes being paid for water connections.

To address this issue, the PMC has implemented a program that permits citizens to legalize their unauthorized water connections by remitting a single penalty fee. At present, the civic areas are estimated to have around 450,000 such connections.
