PMC removes water hyacinth obstructing water flow
Continuous heavy rains in the catchment area last night resulted in increasing the dam water level. Since water is being discharged from the spillway continuously, water hyacinth accumulated at various places came gushing down near riverside areas.
Pune Municipal Corporation PMC Pune is consistently working on removing the water hyacinth so that there is no hurdle in water flow with the help of spider machine.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ganesh Sonune, head, disaster management cell, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) he said, “Till today there haven’t been any cases of water entering into homes. Our teams are well equipped and alert to face any challenge. Residents can inform us on our number 020-25506800 in case of emergency and rescue. Citizens need not panic and spread false rumours.”
Sonune said that the PMC staff is at work removing the hyacinth in the river.
