PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is preparing to distribute more than 5 lakh national flags to citizens as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as India celebrates its 77th Independence Day. The endeavour, which is in line with the national programme started by the central government, aims to foster patriotism and unity by decorating homes with the tricolour.

As per information, each of PMC’s 15 ward offices will have 3,000 flags, all of which will be provided to citizens free of charge. Any flags that are rejected will be replaced with an additional 1,000 flags. The PMC will watch the distribution process closely and advise people to treat the flag with respect. In addition, the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently unveiled, will be featured throughout this year’s Independence Day celebrations.

This programme is a part of the 75th anniversary Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which runs for two years and has the theme ‘Maati Ko Naman Veeron Ka Vandan’ The campaign’s goal is to remember the heroic individuals who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
