PSI Exam Topper From Maharashtra, Ashwini Kedari, Dies After Tragic Accident
Pune, September 8, 2025: Ashwini Kedari, who secured the first rank among women in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) 2023 Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) examination, has died following a tragic accident. Kedari, 30, suffered nearly 80 percent burns after boiling water spilled on her during an accident at home. Despite battling for her life for ten days, she passed away, leaving her family and community in deep shock.
The incident took place on August 28, when Kedari woke up early to study. She had placed a heater in a bucket of water for bathing but dozed off briefly. By the time she woke up, the water had become extremely hot. While attempting to switch off the heater and lift the bucket, boiling water spilled on her. In the chaos, she slipped and fell, sustaining severe burn injuries.
She was rushed to DY Patil Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Social workers and well-wishers raised funds for her treatment, but despite medical efforts, Kedari succumbed to her injuries after a prolonged struggle.
A farmer’s daughter from Palu village in Khed taluka, Ashwini dreamed of becoming a district collector. Her sudden death has left her family devastated and sparked grief across the student community and among aspirants preparing for competitive exams.
