Undri, Pune – In a tragic incident that unfolded on Saturday morning, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a percolation lake located behind the Naikoba Temple in Vadachiwadi, a village near Undri in Pune. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the local community.

The deceased has been identified as Aditya Hani Babar, a resident of Sankalp Society in Vadachiwadi. According to local police officials, Aditya had gone for a morning walk near the foothills of the mountain and later entered the lake for a swim. Unfortunately, he ventured into deep water and drowned.

Officials at Kalepadal Police Station, confirmed the drowning. The Kondhwa Budruk Fire Brigade was immediately notified and launched a search and rescue operation around 10:45 a.m. The operation lasted for nearly three hours.

Aditya’s body was recovered between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., following joint efforts by the fire brigade and local villagers.

The rescue team included fire officer Sameer Shaikh, driver Santosh Gaikwad, tandel Dashrath Malwadkar, and firemen Sagar Pisal, Vishwajeet Wagh, Tushar Kondavale, Pankaj Owal, and Sanket Bhosale.

Local volunteers including Ramdas Bandal, Nandkumar Bandal, Suraj Chavan, Prasad Mokhar, Amol Bandal, Sagar Ghule, Pritesh Zhende, and diver Nikhil Shivtare also assisted in the search operation.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the drowning.
