Pune: 200 Dhanori Residents Held Protest Against PMC Over Failing Civic Amenities
Pune, June 10, 2025 – Over 200 exasperated residents from Dhanori spearheaded by the Dhanori Lohegaon Residents Association (DLRA), staged a vehement protest outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters today, demanding urgent attention to the abysmal state of basic infrastructure in their locality. The demonstration highlighted severe deficiencies in road connectivity, water supply, and drainage systems along Bharat Mata Road and many areas in Lohegaon and Dhanori.
The protest was led by Girish Jaiwal and other residents.

The protest gained significant traction with the presence and vocal support of local MLA Bapu Pathare, who joined the residents in their demand for immediate civic action. This show of solidarity underscored the gravity of the issues plaguing the residents of Kohinoor Viva City.
Akhil Singhal, a resident who actively participated in the protest, articulated the community’s deep-seated frustration to local media outlet Pune Pulse. “Despite being honest and diligent taxpayers, we are enduring immense hardship,” Singhal lamented. “Our presence here today, at the PMC headquarters, is a desperate plea for justice. Our area is critically underserved, lacking consistent water supply, proper road infrastructure, and essential drainage lines.”
The DLRA emphasized that the long-standing neglect by the PMC regarding these fundamental urban amenities has severely disrupted the daily lives of families in the area. Residents highlighted the unhygienic conditions due to poor drainage and the difficulties faced daily due to unpaved or damaged roads. The association vowed to continue pressing the PMC until concrete steps are taken to address these critical civic shortcomings and provide the residents with the basic facilities they are entitled to as tax-paying citizens.
