Pimpri, September 11, 2025: In a major anti-encroachment action, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has cleared 43 hutments spread across 38,750 square feet of land in Wakad-Tathawade. The encroachments were obstructing an 18-meter-wide road reserved in the city’s development plan.

The drive was carried out under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, and City Engineer Makarand Nikam. It was led by Deputy Commissioner (Slum Rehabilitation Department) Anna Bodade and Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters Encroachment Department) Atul Patil.

Executive Engineers Sunil Shinde and Rajendra Shinde, along with teams from the Slum Rehabilitation and Encroachment Departments, Urban Transport Department, Town Planning, Fire Brigade, Maharashtra Security Force, and other civic units, participated in the operation. Heavy machinery including four poclains, four JCBs, six dumpers, and 20 laborers were deployed to remove the structures.

The cleared area, stretching 200 meters in length and 18 meters in width, is located at Survey No. 124/1 in Kalakhadak, Wakad, adjacent to the slum rehabilitation project and extending up to Tathawade boundary.
