To make this Diwali special for Pimpri-Chinchwad residents, the Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park and Planetarium organized a series of scientific and cultural events. On October 31, the Marathi Science Council, Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park hosted a talk by astronomer and science communicator Sonal Thorve titled “Festival of Lights in Space and Us.” Following this, Prajakta Thakar, accompanied by Rajiv Tambe and Chetan Tamhankar, performed a classical music recital.

In memory of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a reading competition titled “India of Kalam’s Dreams” was held on November 2, receiving a warm response from young participants. On November 3, attendees enjoyed “Swar Nabhanganache,” a unique musical evening written and directed by Hemant Mone. An astronomy session allowed attendees to observe the planet Saturn through telescopes, with information on telescope usage also provided.

The Science Park also featured the “ISRO – Space on Wheels” exhibition, co-organized by Vijnana Bharati’s West Division and ISRO, along with an eco-friendly “Build a Fort” contest and exhibition, which saw a positive turnout from the public. Notable judges, including expert Raghuraj Erande and Chief Executive Officer Nandkumar Kasar, presided over the competition.

“These Diwali events attracted around 5,500 visitors and were coordinated under the guidance of Pravin Tupe, the founder-director of the Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park,” said Nandkumar Kasar, Chief Executive Officer, Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park.
