Pune: Air-Conditioned Smart Public Toilet With Café Inaugurated In Viman Nagar
Pune, November 4, 2025 — A prefabricated smart public toilet was inaugurated today near Phoenix Mall, Viman Nagar, by Additional Municipal Commissioner (J) Pavneet Kaur of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The event was attended by MLA Bapusaheb Pathare from the Vadgaon Sheri constituency.
Senior civic officials, including Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kadam, Executive Engineers Amar Madikunth and Prasad Jagtap, along with Assistant Engineer Naiknavare, Junior Engineer Chopde, and other officers from the Nagar Road Regional Office, were also present at the inauguration.

The newly built air-conditioned smart toilet spans 444 square feet, with 70% of the space allocated for sanitation facilities and 30% for a café area. The facility includes five toilets and urinals for men, five toilets for women, a baby feeding/changing room, as well as dedicated restrooms for transgender individuals and persons with disabilities.
The project was completed at an estimated cost of ₹33 lakh. Parosa Private Limited, the contractor, will operate the café for the next ten years and use the generated revenue to manage the toilet’s maintenance, repairs, and daily cleaning operations.
