Pune’s airport feeder buses linking to Ramwadi Metro station are poised for a significant improvement in service, as they prepare to secure a permanent parking location near the exit gate of the new terminal building. Currently, the feeder service, inaugurated in March, has faced challenges in visibility and accessibility, leading to limited commuter interest. Hemant Sonawane, executive director of Maha Metro, highlighted these issues, noting that inadequate parking space for the buses has been a critical factor.

Following discussions between Maha Metro officials and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), plans are underway to add an additional bus to the feeder service lineup coinciding with the new terminal’s opening.

“We’ve informed Minister Murlidhar Mohal about the current challenges and he has assured us that designated space will be allocated within the airport premises for these buses,” stated Sonawane. He further emphasized the upcoming arrangements for clear signages and accurate timings to enhance commuter convenience.

An airport official confirmed that discussions are ongoing to finalize the logistics, ensuring minimal impact on private vehicle and cab movements. One commuter expressed frustration over the current service, stating, “I have traveled from the airport to Hinjewadi several times but never spotted a PMPML bus.”

This sentiment highlights the urgency for improved operational visibility. The impending meeting this week between stakeholders is expected to solidify these plans, marking a pivotal moment for enhancing public transportation connectivity to and from Pune airport. The forthcoming changes aim to address existing challenges, promising a more efficient and accessible feeder bus service for airport commuters.
