12 Railway Stations In Pune District To Be Revamped Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Mumbai, April 12: Under Indian Railways’ ambitious “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,” a total of 132 railway stations in Maharashtra have been selected for redevelopment. The scheme aims to modernise important railway stations across the country and provide enhanced facilities for passengers, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
This announcement was made during a press conference attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. On this occasion, Fadnavis expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Vaishnaw for their efforts to improve railway infrastructure in the state.
Some of the major railway stations included in the scheme are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar (Central and Western), Andheri, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune, Nashik Road, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Amravati, Bhusawal, among others. Several suburban and rural stations have also been included in the scheme such as Akalkot Road, Daund, Igatpuri, Chanda Fort, Malad, Dombivli, Chinchwad, etc.
The redevelopment will provide stations with modern facilities like waiting lounges, food courts, clean restrooms, lifts, escalators, and digital amenities. The stations will also undergo beautification and will be better integrated with their respective cities through improved transport connectivity.
