Pune: Pune Animal Liberation, an animal rights activists’ organization, will organize a peaceful protest on November 18 (Saturday) at 5 pm demanding freedom for animals in front of Katraj Zoo.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Abhishek Menon, co-founder of Pune Animal Liberation, said “This peaceful protest will be conducted in front of Katraj Zoo to show how farmed animals & wild animals are kept captive. They are supposed to be kept in the wild. But instead, we domesticate them, keep them for entertainment, use them as food, etc. That is what we want to demonstrate there.”

Amjor Chandran, Co-Organizer of the Vegan India Movement said, “The idea of the peaceful protest is to make people empathize with animals. Animals are not to be used or exploited anywhere like a circus, zoo, or anywhere else. So, no one should go to such places where animals are kept in captivity. Hence, animals should not be exploited for food, entertainment, or any other purposes.”

Animal rights activists of Pune will assemble in front of Katraj Zoo on November 18, Saturday 5 pm for a peaceful protest to promote animal rights. Around 20 activists will participate in this event. A couple of activists will sit inside cages to make people empathize with animal slavery.
