Pune News : Husband Arrested for Forcing Wife to Swallow Blade-laced Calcium Capsule, Leading To Throat Injuries

In a shocking revelation, a man named Somnath Sadhu Sapkal, residing in Shivane, Pune, has been arrested by Uttam Nagar Police for allegedly forcing his wife, Chhaya Somnath Sapkal, to ingest a calcium capsule containing blade pieces.

The incident, which occurred between October 2023 and 8 November 2023, has led to criminal charges of Domestic Violence and attempted murder against the accused.

The arrest comes after a history of abusive behavior, with Somnath repeatedly casting doubt on his wife’s character and subjecting her to brutal abuse. The catalyst for the recent incident occurred a month prior when Somnath and his brother were consuming alcohol in the house, prompting Chhaya to request they refrain from doing so indoors.

In response to this request, Somnath, in a fit of rage, allegedly tampered with Chhaya’s calcium capsule, introducing blade pieces into the mix. He then compelled her to ingest the capsule, resulting in injuries to her throat.

Sub-Inspector Shubhangi Pawar stated that a medical examination is ongoing, and the conclusive reports will determine whether the blade pieces were indeed mixed into the capsule.
