After Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s thrilling victory at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, MS Dhoni was kept waiting for a handshake by the home team before he walked off the field and entered the dressing room. This post-match scene from the IPL 2024 match eventually became the talk of the town.

In their crucially important final IPL season encounter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs on Saturday night, securing the final Playoff position. After being asked to bat first, the RCB amassed a strong total of 218 for five, which served as the cornerstone of this significant win—their sixth in a row. Following that, their bowlers efficiently held CSK to 191 for seven, making it RCB’s sixth Playoff berth in 17 seasons.

The iconic former captain of CSK, MS Dhoni, who was removed in the last over of the run-chase, led the team’s players for the traditional post-match handshakes. But Dhoni waited for a few seconds before turning around and asking skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead the handshakes instead, because the RCB players were engrossed in joyous celebrations over their play-off qualification.

Before entering the changing room, Dhoni went on to shake hands with a few players from the RCB dugout. Interestingly, Dhoni shook hands with very few of the RCB players on the pitch, including Kohli. This might have been the reason behind Kohli’s admiration for Dhoni, who followed him after the game, suggesting that he wanted to have a personal meeting with the former captain of India. The footage of Dhoni walking back caused a lot of talk on social media. Now, to further stir up the debate, another video has surfaced that shows star RCB batsman Virat Kohli visiting the CSK dressing room and appearing to be looking for Dhoni. However, Kohli was followed by another RCB legend. Chris Gayle, a legendary West Indian batsman and former member of the Royal Caribbean, hooked up with Dhoni and his former partner Dwayne Bravo at the Chinnaswamy after the exciting game. In the video that RCB posted on their social media account, he is even seen sporting a CSK jersey.

Later, Gayle posted pictures of his encounter with Bravo and Dhoni to Instagram with the comment, “Was great to catch up with the 2 Champions @mahi7781 & @djbravo47 absolutely love and respect.”

Meanwhile, the RCB supporters too had to face the wrath on social media for heckling CSK fans outside the stadium during their over-the-top victory celebrations. In one such viral video, a CSK fan was manhandled by the RCB supporters, who surrounded the man outside the stadium to mock him over Saturday’s result.
