Pune, October 31, 2025: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) carried out searches at 10 locations in Pune’s Kondhwa and Mominpura areas during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

The operation led to the seizure of 10 mobile phones and several documents containing Urdu and Arabic literature.

According to ATS sources, the seized phones belong to 10 individuals, including three residents of Mominpura. These individuals were reportedly in contact with Zubair Hangargekar (37), a software engineer from Kondhwa, who was arrested on Monday for allegedly possessing literature linked to the banned terror outfit al-Qaida.

A senior ATS official stated that the recovered cellphones have been sent for digital forensic examination, and the documents found at the suspects’ residences are also being scrutinized.

Hangargekar was arrested at Pune railway station shortly after returning from Chennai, where he had attended a function. During previous raids on October 9, the ATS had seized 19 electronic devices, including his laptop, which reportedly contained downloaded al-Qaida material. Hangargekar remains in ATS custody until November 4 as investigations continue.
