Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 10, 2025:
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) carried out a raid on Thursday morning at a residential society in the Borhade Wasti area of Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad. A 29-year-old man, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was detained during the operation, and officials seized a laptop, documents, and other electronic materials from his flat.

According to sources, the raid was part of a larger operation being conducted across Pune district, covering areas such as Kondhwa, Khadki, Wanowrie, and others. The detained youth is currently under interrogation, and ATS officials are verifying details related to his rented accommodation and lease documents.

Interestingly, the local police were not informed in advance about the operation. “The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad conducted this action independently. We have no official details regarding the operation,” said a senior Pimpri-Chinchwad Police official on condition of anonymity.

ATS officials revealed that the action is connected to a 2023 case in which two individuals were arrested and found to have links with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a global jihadist organisation. Two other suspects from the same case had been absconding since then, prompting the latest series of searches.

A total of 19 premises, including residences and offices connected to the case, are being searched across the Pune region. The ATS has yet to issue an official statement regarding the identity of the detained individual or the exact nature of his involvement.

The operation has created a buzz in the Moshi area, with residents expressing concern and curiosity over the heavy ATS presence and the ongoing investigation.
