Pune, July 18, 2025: The Baner Balewadi Pashan Resident Association (BBPRA) spearheaded two crucial meetings on Thursday to address persistent civic and infrastructure concerns in the area.

In the first meeting, Vijay Varangaonkar of BBPRA met with S C Gaikwad and senior officials from MSEDCL (Mahavitaran) to discuss issues affecting residents. Frequent voltage fluctuations in Baner, Balewadi and Pashan were highlighted. Mahavitaran officials acknowledged the problem and assured that new power lines would be laid as part of the pending substation project. To provide immediate relief, interim measures will be implemented to stabilize electricity supply.

The issue of open feeder pillars and electrical hazards was also raised. Mahavitaran committed to covering all exposed feeder pillars and requested residents to share a list of hazardous spots to expedite action. Additionally, residents were urged to take advantage of the government’s solar panel subsidy scheme to promote renewable energy usage. The meeting was attended by Vijay Varangaonkar, Asmita Karandikar, Uma and Sarang Wable.

In the second meeting, BBPRA, in collaboration with Baner Balewadi Nagrik Manch, discussed road and metro-related challenges with officials from PMRDA and Metro. The stretch from Mamta Chowk (Balewadi) to Sai Chowk faces severe traffic bottlenecks due to alignment issues, potholes, and uneven road surfaces. Similarly, the turn from SKP Corner to Rabindranath Tagore School was flagged for urgent repairs and cleaning.
