Pune: Congress Leader Demands Apology From BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole For Delay In Shivajinagar ST Stand Reconstruction
Pune: Congress leader Datta Bahirat has criticized BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole for the prolonged delay in the reconstruction of the Shivajinagar State Transport (ST) Stand at its original location. Bahirat accused Shirole of using the recent announcement about an upcoming agreement between MahaMetro and the ST Corporation to resume work as an excuse to mask his inactivity and the delay in the project. He demanded that Shirole publicly apologize to Pune residents for the inconvenience caused due to this delay.
Bahirat highlighted that the Congress party had staged a strong protest in October last year in front of the ST Department’s office, pressuring the state government to decide in favor of rebuilding the stand at its original location. However, despite this decision being made over a year ago, no progress has been seen on the ground.

“MLA Siddharth Shirole now claims the work will begin soon, but why was it delayed for more than a year? Why didn’t he take any action earlier despite being the constituency’s MLA?” questioned Bahirat.
He also pointed out that five years ago, the Shivajinagar ST Stand was temporarily relocated to Wakdewadi due to the construction of the Shivajinagar Metro underground project. While Pune residents adjusted to the temporary inconvenience, they have endured a significant delay in the Metro project. Bahirat alleged that Shirole ignored the delay during his tenure and misled Pune residents during election campaigns by making vague assurances about the reconstruction project starting soon.
Bahirat concluded by demanding that MLA Siddharth Shirole acknowledge his inaction and publicly apologize for the distress caused to Pune residents.
