Pune District in Maharashtra has made headlines with an astonishing number of centenarian voters, as revealed by data published by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday. The report indicates a remarkable total of 5,492 voters in Pune district who have surpassed the age of 100.

Delving into the data, it’s evident that 5,437 individuals fall within the age bracket of 100 to 109 years old, showcasing a significant demographic trend. Among them, there are 2,677 male voters, 2,795 female voters, and one individual belonging to the third gender category. Furthermore, there are 16 voters aged between 110 and 119, evenly split between eight males and eight females. Astonishingly, the data also reveals three voters who have exceeded the extraordinary age of 120.

Pune district boasts a total of 82,92,951 eligible voters, constituting a diverse demographic. Among these, 43,28,954 are men, 39,63,269 are women, and 728 individuals identify with the third gender. Interestingly, the majority of voters, totaling 20,57,606, belong to the 30-39 age group, closely followed by 18,83,807 voters in the 40-49 age range. Additionally, there are 95,275 first-time voters aged between 18 and 19.

The forthcoming Lok Sabha elections are set to be a significant event for Pune and its surrounding regions. Voting in Pune, Shirur, and Maval constituencies is scheduled for May 13, while Baramati will conduct its elections on May 7. With such a diverse electorate, the elections are poised to reflect a broad spectrum of voices and perspectives within the district.
