In a troubling incident, two traffic police officers were harmed when a man allegedly crashed his car into them in Pune’s Dighi area, as per police reports.

The suspect, identified as Prashant Kadam, aged 20, was promptly apprehended by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police after colliding with two traffic officials at a checkpoint around noon on Monday. According to a senior police representative, Kadam was driving a car with black tinted film on its windows and resisted when signalled to stop by the police. Instead, he recklessly collided with the officers, leaving them injured.

The injured officers, identified as Rahul Mote and Kalyan Bhosale, are currently hospitalized. Rahul Mote’s condition is said to be severe, according to the authorities.

Kadam faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicle Act for his actions.

In a separate but equally tragic event, a police constable named Bharat Asmar, aged 33, allegedly took his own life with a service carbine gun while in a staff resting room in Pune.

Although no suicide note has been discovered, police speculate personal issues might have prompted the extreme act, stated a senior police official.

The incident occurred late Thursday night and was discovered the following afternoon, with investigations ongoing, as per official statements.
