For the safety of travelers on National Highway No. 965 (Raigad), significant improvements are underway from Mauje Varandha to Raigad District. The Collector of Raigad, Kishan Javale, has issued a notice to close Varandha Ghat Road for all vehicles from April 8 to May 30, 2024. This closure is essential as construction work is ongoing to double-lane the road, erect protective walls, and implement necessary safety measures.

The construction work spans from Km 88/100 (Rajewadi) to Km 96/700 (Raigad district boundary). Although substantial progress has been made from Varandha village to the Raigad district limits, the section from Chain No. 88/100 (Mauje Varandha) to 96/700 (Raigad district limits) requires attention. This segment presents challenges due to its narrow width and the presence of steep hills and deep valleys, making it unsafe to work alongside moving traffic.

The urgency to complete the roadwork before the onset of monsoon further emphasizes the need for temporary traffic closures. Failure to do so could jeopardize the safety of both workers and commuters. Thus, a notification has been issued to close Varandha Ghat Road for all types of traffic during the specified period.

To facilitate smooth travel during this closure, alternative routes are suggested. Travelers heading to Pune are advised to take the route via Rajewadi Phata-Mangaon-Nizampur Road-Tamhani Ghat-Mulshi Pirangut Pune, while those bound for Kolhapur can opt for Rajewadi Phata-Poladpur-Khed-Chiplun-Patan-Karad-Kolhapur.

Moreover, It is also crucial for citizens to adhere to these advisory measures to ensure their safety and the timely completion of road improvements.
