Pune Police Counsel Parents After Viral Video Shows Four Boys on One Scooter
Fathers called to traffic office after video raises concerns over underage riding and road safety
Pune, July 4, 2026: Pune Traffic Police have counselled the fathers of four boys seen riding together on a single scooter after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The video, reportedly filmed in the Warje area, shows four boys travelling on a Honda Activa (MH 12 XY 6901). One boy is riding the scooter while the other three are squeezed onto the vehicle, which can be seen wobbling as it moves.
In the video, a passerby follows the scooter and asks the boys how old they are. One of them confidently replies, “We are all 18 years old.” When the rider is asked again about his age, another boy jokes, “We all are 18. Our heights have got locked. We all go to the gym.”
Throughout the interaction, the boys try to hide their faces from the camera.
The clip quickly spread online, with many social media users questioning the boys’ claim that they were 18. Several people felt they looked much younger, while others criticised the dangerous act of four people riding on a single two-wheeler.
Many users also shared the popular Marathi saying, “Pune tithe kay une?”, often used humorously to suggest that unusual incidents are common in the city.
After the video went viral, Pune Traffic Police traced the boys and summoned their fathers to the traffic office. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandeep Bhajibhakare counselled the parents and explained the dangers of underage driving and traffic rule violations. He urged them to ensure their children do not ride vehicles without a valid licence and always follow road safety rules.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing concern over underage riding in Pune, especially after several accidents involving young riders in recent years.
