After being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Museum reopened for tourists on March 20, 2022. In the financial year 2022-23, the museum recorded a record income of approximately Rs. 8 crores. However, in the following financial year of 2023-24, there was a noticeable decrease in the income, dropping by around one crore rupees, with the museum earning around Rs. 7 crores.

Despite a larger crowd compared to pre-pandemic times, the income from ticket sales and other amenities witnessed a decline. Ticket sales accounted for an income of Rs. 6 crores 12 lakh 11 thousand 780, with a total of 17 lakh 86 thousand 992 tourists visiting during the year.

Additionally, the income from the electric battery car tariff amounted to Rs. 29 lakh 50 thousand 145, and online ticket sales introduced this year brought in Rs. 30 lakh 43 thousand 374, benefiting 89 thousand 704 tourists.

While the museum still attracted a significant number of visitors, the figures fell short compared to previous years. The total number of tourists in 2023-24 stood at 14 lakh 41 thousand 501, with a decrease observed in both local and foreign visitors.

Despite these challenges, the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Museum remains a popular destination, drawing visitors from both near and far. The museum authorities continue to explore strategies to enhance visitor experience and boost income for sustainable operations.
