In a pioneering move towards sustainable energy practices, Mahavitaran, the state’s leading provider of electric vehicle charging stations, has embarked on a transformational journey by harnessing solar power to energize its charging infrastructure. This strategic initiative aims to imbue the charging network with eco-friendly credentials, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

The inaugural phase of this green energy transition unfolds at Ganeshkhind in Pune, where Mahavitaran (MSEDCL) is piloting the integration of solar energy to power an electric vehicle charging station. Overseeing this groundbreaking endeavor is Prasad Reshme, the Director of the Solar Power Project, whose recent inspection marks a pivotal milestone in the project’s implementation.

Mahavitran’s commitment to sustainable mobility is evident in its deployment of electric vehicle charging stations across various sub-centers and administrative hubs. Presently, 18 such stations dot urban and rural landscapes within the Pune circle. With an eye towards reducing carbon footprint, the company now plans to supplement the power supply for these stations with solar-generated electricity.

At the forefront of this initiative is the installation of a 60 KW solar power system atop the ‘Prakash Bhavan’ building in Ganeshkhind. Upon completion, this solar array is projected to produce approximately 7,200 units of electricity monthly, catering exclusively to the adjacent electric vehicle charging station. Prasad Reshme’s technical scrutiny ensures adherence to quality standards, while his directive to expedite similar solar projects underscores Mahavitran’s commitment to sustainability.

Speaking on this transformative shift, Rajendra Pawar, Chief Engineer of Pune Circle, underscores the concerted efforts to transition towards green energy. He highlights ongoing endeavors to electrify as many as 18 charging stations through solar power initiatives, emphasizing Mahavitran’s proactive stance in fostering environmental stewardship.

As Mahavitran forges ahead with its solar-powered charging stations, it not only pioneers innovative solutions but also sets a precedent for sustainable infrastructure development. This convergence of renewable energy and electric mobility heralds a greener, cleaner future for Maharashtra’s transportation landscape.
