Pune district gets 10th position in Eat Right Challenge

Pune: The Pune district bagged the 10th position in the Eat Right Challenge competition organised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

The drug division of the Food and Drug administration played a vital role in helping Pune achieve the 10th position. A felicitation ceremony was held in Delhi in this regard, on the occasion of the World Food Security Day on June 7th. The district of Solapur bagged the 21st position.
The competition was among 75 districts across the country for their performance in food safety and standards law enforcement and consumer awareness, training of food professionals, ‘Eat Right Campus’, cleanliness and safety of offerings in religious places, quality assurance of food items sold on footpaths.

The Pune Division Food Administration team has performed well at all levels in this competition. With daily implementation, Jangali Maharaj (JM) Corner in Pune has been accorded the status of ‘Clean Street Food Hub’.

Sant Dnyaneshwar Mandir in Alandi and Swami Narayan Mandir in Narhe have received certificates for the production and distribution of Swachh Prasad. The restaurants in the Pune District Collectorate, Yashada, Yerawada Jail, and Siram Institute have been accorded the status of ‘Eat Right Campus’.

Akurdi, Camp, Baramati, Dehu-1 and 2, Chakan, Chinchwad and Lonavla have got the status of ‘Clean and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Market’.

A total of116 hotels in the Pune district have obtained the hygiene rating status.
