Since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, authorities in Pune district have seized cash, liquor, drugs, gold, and other items valued at ₹16.34 crore. This information was shared by the Pune District Collectorate in an official notification.

The largest seizure, worth ₹5.22 crore, was reported in the Khadakwasla Assembly constituency, followed by Shirur at ₹4.27 crore, and Bhor at ₹1.36 crore. In contrast, the lowest amounts were seized in Ambegaon (₹4.35 lakh), Pimpri (₹6.16 lakh), and Shivajinagar (₹6.53 lakh).

The breakdown of seized items includes cash amounting to ₹9.01 crore, liquor valued at ₹3.05 crore, drugs worth ₹40 lakh, and precious metals worth ₹1.04 crore. Notably, Shirur is the only constituency reporting a significant seizure of precious metals. The total volume of liquor seized is reported to be 4.35 lakh liters.

Pune district currently has 88,49,590 registered voters, with 45,79,216 men, 42,69,569 women, and 805 voters identifying as third gender. Chinchwad has the highest number of voters at 6.63 lakh, followed by Hadapsar (6.25 lakh) and Bhosari (6.08 lakh), while Kasba Peth has the fewest voters with 2.83 lakh. Additionally, the district now has 1,957 overseas voters, up from 1,765 in January.

A total of 8,462 polling booths will be set up for the convenience of voters across the district. District Collector Suhas Diwase highlighted the district’s efforts to ensure fair and transparent elections with these seizures.
