Pune: Ex IAS Officer Sambhaji Zende Campaigns In Undri And Pisoli, Receives Citizens' Manifesto From MURDWF
Pune, November 9, 2024 – As part of his campaign for the upcoming 2024 Legislative Assembly elections 2024, former IAS officer Sambhaji Zende contesting for the Purandar Haveli constituency reached out to residents of Undri and Pisoli, highlighting his commitment to addressing long-standing infrastructure issues in the area. Zende commenced his outreach at the Bhairavnath Temple in Undri, meeting with both local villagers and housing society members to hear their concerns directly. The meeting was organised in Nyati Serenity Enclave society in Undri today afternoon.

During his visit, members of the Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents’ Welfare Development Foundation (MURWDF) presented Zende with their “Citizens’ Manifesto,” outlining urgent infrastructure needs in Undri. Suniel Iyer, a representative of MURWDF, expressed the frustration of residents who have seen little infrastructure development over the years, citing a lack of reliable water supply, roads, public amenities, and consistent power access.
“I have lived in Undri for 17 years, and there is virtually no infrastructure development,” Iyer stated. “It is critical that candidates who win in this election fulfill their promises. Our manifesto underscores the crucial projects needed to improve residents’ quality of life. DPR of the merged villages is pending, we fail to understand why it is being delayed ? Residents are taken for granted by the corporation, as we are paying heavy taxes but do not receive any infrastructure in return.”
Animesh Prasad, a resident from Godrej Horizon, emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in public works. “Residents want a mechanism to be kept informed and involved in development projects undertaken by elected representatives,” Prasad said. “It’s essential for candidates to deliver on their commitments.”
Vaidehi Suryavanshi, a resident of Nyati Esteban stated that Pune Municipal Corporation’s DPR is missing which has halted the development of the area. We need roads, PMC water supply, drainage line, security and uninterrupted power supply in the area.
Another resident of the area Deepti Mishra from Palazzo society commented that the area lacks public amenities. Societies in the area are tanker dependent, no walkways and public transport is missing. We need a representative who now delivers the promises.
Responding to the concerns, Zende acknowledged the severe infrastructure challenges faced by merged villages within Pune, noting the impact of rapid urbanization and increasing population on existing resources and administrative capacities. He assured residents that addressing these issues would be a priority in his campaign and, if elected, in his term.
