Pune: Explosion at scrap shop on B T Kawade road injures four workers
Pune, December 27, 2024: An explosion occurred at a scrap shop on B.T. Kawade Road early this morning, resulting in injuries to four workers, one of whom is critically injured. The Pune Fire Brigade Control Room received the alert at 5:29 PM, and a fire engine from the B.T. Kawade Road Fire Station was dispatched immediately.
Upon reaching the scene, it was discovered that the explosion was caused by a tank in an open area filled with scrap material. No fire was reported. Before the fire brigade arrived, three injured workers were rushed to hospitals—two to Sassoon Hospital and one to a local facility.
Initial investigations revealed that the workers were attempting to dismantle a cylinder-like tank when it exploded. Fire Officer Pramod Sonawane confirmed the details.

1. Mohammed Sheikh (Approx. 50 years) – Critically injured
2. Kishor Salve (Approx. 40 years) – Injured
3. Dilip Misal (Approx. 40 years) – Injured
4. Mohammed Sayed (Approx. 50 years) – Injured
