Pune, July 17, 2025: Raising alarms over food safety standards in the city, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has temporarily suspended the licenses of two prominent Pune eateries—Hotel Bhiwandi Darbar in Camp and the iconic Goodluck Café—after serious hygiene violations were detected.

Hotel Bhiwandi Darbar’s license was revoked following a complaint lodged on June 16 by a customer who claimed to have found a cockroach in a bowl of soup. Subsequent FDA inspections revealed multiple lapses in food safety and cleanliness, leading authorities to suspend the establishment’s operations until further notice.

In a separate incident, Goodluck Café, a beloved spot among Pune food lovers, came under scrutiny when a couple reported finding a glass shard in their signature bun maska. The issue escalated after the couple shared a video on social media, prompting the FDA to conduct an immediate inspection. Officials confirmed the complaint and ordered the café’s license suspended temporarily.
