Pune: Fire Ravages Anandvan 2 Forest Area In Mohamadwadi Over 200 Trees Destroyed

Pune’s Anandvan 2 reserve forest area in Mohamadwadi suffered a devastating fire on Saturday March 15, destroying nearly 150-200 trees. The incident, suspected to be the work of miscreants, has sparked outrage among environmentalists and local volunteers.
According to the Anandvan Foundation Team, the fire broke out in the evening, rapidly engulfing a large section of the green space. Volunteers and the fire brigade rushed to the spot, working tirelessly to control the flames and prevent further destruction. Despite their efforts, significant damage was done to the urban forest, which has been nurtured over the years by dedicated citizens.
“This is a heartbreaking loss. Anandvan has been a labor of love, and seeing it reduced to ashes is deeply distressing,” said a member of the foundation. The team has called for a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and ensure such incidents do not recur.
The fire has raised concerns about the safety of green spaces in the city, highlighting the urgent need for stricter monitoring and better protection measures. Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the fire, but an inquiry is expected.
