Pune: Loni Kalbhor Police Seize 66 Opium Plants In Alandi Mhatobachi Raid

Pune, March 16, 2025 – Loni Kalbhor Police have taken strict action against illegal opium cultivation in the Alandi Mhatobachi area. Acting on confidential information, police conducted a raid on a plot behind the land owned by Nitin Timbale near Jagtap Mala Road. The land was allegedly being used for growing opium for illegal sale.
During the operation, police discovered 66 opium plants, weighing approximately 4 kg and valued at ₹40,000, in Gat No. 775 of Alandi Mhatobachi. The plants were seized in the presence of two witnesses. Following the seizure, a case was registered at Loni Kalbhor Police Station against the landowner, Mangal Dadaso Jawalkar (45), a resident of Amarai Vasti, Alandi Mhatobachi, under the NDPS Act Sections 8(b) and 18. The accused woman has been taken into custody.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, Pune City, Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hadapsar Division, Anuradha Udamale. The team included Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale, Police Sub-Inspector Anil Jadhav, and several other officers.
Notably, Loni Kalbhor Police have previously taken action against illegal opium cultivation in the area on two occasions. Authorities have vowed to continue stringent legal action against those involved in such illicit activities to eradicate unlawful drug operations.
