Pune: Accident highlights safety concerns during festive celebrations as investigation gets underway

Madhavraj, a resident of the Regency Meadows building in Dhanori suffered injuries on his Right hand, while trying to extinguish fire caused by firecrackers that ignited beneath his flat. 

The incident occurred at 10pm, during a festive celebration when firecrackers were being used, leading to the unexpected blaze in the flat on first floor.

Madhavraj who lives on the second floor of the same building noticed the fire. The calls to fire brigade no. 112, went unanswered. Some residents did help in controlling the situation but others were not supportive.

Finally, the situation was brought under control due to vigilance and proactive efforts by Madhavraj and his family, “The incident that occurred last night was concerning, as it stemmed from a lack of caution despite prior warnings about the fireworks near the parking area. Fortunately, I was the one to notice the fire before anyone else and before it could spread to our balcony, quickly informed my parents to take action.”, he informed 

However, Madhavraj injured his right hand and was hospitalized for treatment. After receiving necessary medical care, he has since been discharged and is reported to be recovering well. 

CCTV footage shows three kids playing with fire crackers and throwing them up in air. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

As the investigation continues, the community remains vigilant about fire safety, especially during festive seasons when firecracker usage is at its peak.
