A horrific incident of robbery occurred in Gunat village near Shirur, about 75km from Pune city, on Monday. Four intruders broke into a farmer’s house around 2:30 am, severing the earlobes of a 48-year-old woman in a brutal attempt to remove her earrings.

The woman, who is still undergoing treatment in the hospital, required 15 stitches on her earlobes. The robbers made off with valuables worth Rs 65,000, including cash and gold jewelry.

According to the woman’s son, the family’s father had gone to Alandi on Sunday for the Kartiki Ekadashi Wari, leaving his mother and two sons at home. The son recounted the terrifying events of the robbery, saying, “Around 2 am, I woke up after hearing my mother’s screams. She was crying and calling me and my brother.”

When the sons tried to open the door, they found it locked from outside. After kicking the door, an unknown person outside abused and threatened them. The sons then opened the windows and called their cousins for help. When their relatives arrived, the suspects fled.
