Pune: Green Sunrise Hills Foundation Celebrates Raksha Bandhan By Tying Rakhis To Trees In Wagholi
Pune, August 11, 2025 – The Green Sunrise Hills Foundation marked the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan in a unique and eco-friendly way by celebrating with the trees they have nurtured over the years at Green Sunrise Hills, Wagholi.
For the past decade, the Foundation has been committed to the protection and conservation of nature, transforming barren land into a thriving green cover. With the plantation of over 50,000 native plant species, the once desolate hill has now evolved into a lush forest, significantly enriching the biodiversity of the hill and surrounding areas.
Founder President Chandrakant Naktode shared that this initiative reflects the deep bond between humans and nature. “Raksha Bandhan is about protection, and by tying rakhis to trees, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the environment,” he said.

The celebration saw members of the Foundation and local residents coming together to honour the trees, symbolising gratitude for the clean air, shade, and ecological balance they provide. This “Raksha Bandhan with Trees” initiative not only spreads environmental awareness but also inspires the community to view nature as a family to be protected for generations to come.
