Pune : Heavy boulders fell in nearby places of Sinhagad fort; no casualties reported

Pune: Heavy boulders fell in some nearby places of Sinhagad fort on Sunday night. However, no casualties were reported.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Balasaheb Jiwade, Forest Guard, Sinhagad Pune said, “On the night of July 2, several big rocks fell at places like Jagtap Machi and more places on the ghat road near Sinhagad Fort. No casualties or injuries have happened. As soon as we got the information, officials from the forest department rushed to the spot and cleared the debris in half an hour.”
As per information from Jiwade, it is speculated that the incident might have occurred because of heavy rainfall.
Pradip Sankpal, Range Forest Officer, Pune said, “Hazardous incidents of rock falling, gorge collapse and more are increasing near Sinhagad Fort. Hence, looking at the current situation, the forest department has decided to plan and implement various preventive measures to avoid such mishaps in the future.”
