A shocking crime from Pune district’s Daund taluka has triggered outrage after a 9-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her father over a dispute related to a school marksheet. The accused allegedly tried to destroy evidence by setting the house on fire after the crime.
The incident took place on May 3 at Deulgaon Raje village in Daund taluka. According to police information, the accused, identified as Shantaram Chavan, allegedly suspected that marks in his son Sanskar’s school result had been altered. Following an argument over the issue, he allegedly attacked his daughter Anamika with an electric wood-cutting machine inside the house.
Police said the child died on the spot due to severe injuries. Investigators further stated that after the murder, the accused allegedly wrapped the girl’s body in cloth and set the house on fire in an attempt to make the incident appear accidental and destroy evidence.
The brutality of the incident has shocked local residents and sparked anger in the area. Villagers and social groups have demanded strict action against the accused.
Police have also registered a case against another individual for allegedly attempting to hide information related to the incident. Officials confirmed that the accused father has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The case is being investigated by Daund police, who are examining all circumstances surrounding the incident, including the sequence of events inside the house before the fire broke out.
The horrifying incident has once again raised concerns over domestic violence, anger management and crimes against children. Local residents described the incident as deeply disturbing and difficult to comprehend, especially because the victim was allegedly killed over a minor issue linked to school marks.
